KMS Titanium Hardware Upgrades are purpose-designed replacement components for widely used 6- and 7-string Floyd Rose-style tremolo architectures. They allow locking, adjustment, mounting and spring interfaces to be upgraded individually without replacing the complete bridge.
Most CNC-machined and CNC-turned titanium upgrade components use Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5). Explicit exceptions use another titanium grade or material only where the component function requires it; the formed Spring Claw and titanium FlowBar use Commercially Pure Titanium (Grade 2), while OmniPort is a mixed-material assembly.
In Brief
- Select the exact mechanical component and geometry before choosing finish.
- Most load-bearing KMS titanium upgrade parts use Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5.
- Grade 2 is used deliberately for the formed Spring Claw and lightweight titanium FlowBar.
- The product range includes complete coordinated sets as well as individual locking, saddle, fine-tuner, stud and spring components.
- “Floyd Rose-style” describes a system category, not one universal thread, dimension or component standard.

Materials and Finish Naming
KMS uses Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) for most CNC-machined and CNC-turned load-bearing upgrade components. Commercially Pure Titanium (Grade 2) is reserved for components whose function requires greater formability or a different mass direction.
Canonical finish naming:
- Carbon Black PVD for black PVD-coated titanium
- Gravity Black only where a component is explicitly black anodized
- Gold TiN/PVD where the functional coating is titanium nitride
- anodized color names only for genuinely anodized titanium
Choosing the Correct Part
Most KMS hardware is designed as a drop-in replacement. Match the component type and stated size to the part being replaced.
- Select the same component type and function as the factory-installed part.
- Match the stated thread or key dimension where one is provided.
- Choose the correct 6- or 7-string package where applicable.
- Follow the specific product note for String Lock Conversion Screws, Schaller-style Bullet Screws, studs, bushings and block hardware.
- Select the finish after the mechanical part has been identified.
The term Floyd Rose-style describes the system category rather than one universal component standard. When compatibility is uncertain, identify the installed tremolo and confirm the relevant thread, dimension and component geometry before selecting the KMS replacement part.
